Acting runs in the family…

What inspired you to pursue a career as an actor?
I was a theatre actor and studied filmmaking and theatre from Beaconhouse National University (BNU). My mom has a background in theatre; she is also an actor and so is my aunt. My grandfather was a film director who got his degree in filmmaking from Hollywood. It won’t be unfair to say that it runs in my blood. There is nothing else I know. There is nothing else I can do.

What draws you towards a role?
The mere power of it to drive the masses to think and look upto the character.

What is the one item/food you always have to have with you on set?
Legend Premium Tea. I literally have sachets of it in my bag.

What is the one thing you never travel without?
My debit card.

Who would you credit as the most iconic individual in the film/TV industry?
Bushra Ansari. Also I really like Ayesha Omar’s sense of style.

In your opinion, what are three qualities in a woman that are imperative?
Dignity. Confidence. Self-awareness.

In your opinion, what are three qualities in a man that are absolutely necessary?
A man is known by his word that he keeps. So that, foremost. Then, fairness and lastly, being self-made.

What is your daily mantra for happiness?
Music. And this man I just got engaged to.

One piece of advice you would give to aspiring actors?
Say no to shortcuts, nepotism and arrogance.

Tell us about your first and most recent work experience and how you feel you have grown.
I started my career with Momina Duraid Productions and I am still working with them. I did my first play two and a half years ago and am now working on my second serial. The break I took in between taught me a lot. Not only as an actor, but I have changed as a person too. I know when to say no now.

Describe yourself in five words?
Indecisive. Impulsive. Confident. Opinionated. Very emotional.

What is your goal in life?
I want to take myself to a level where my presence causes a distinctive reaction in a crowd.
